Clayton, MO Removes Ordinance Language Classifying Bull Terrier Breeds as “Dangerous”

After a meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, the Clayton, Missouri Board of Aldermen unanimously voted to remove language in its existing ordinance that classified “Bull Terrier breeds” of dog — namely Staffordshire Bull Terriers, “pit bulls,” and “pit bull” mixes — as “dangerous” animals.

The ordinance had prior required owners of so-called “pit bulls” to register their dogs with the city and for the dogs to wear a bright collar indicating it was a “dangerous” dog.
