“The number of unlicensed pit bulls running loose through Stoughtons neighborhoods is on the rise and Animal Control Officer Kristin Bousquet is hoping to make some changes; or at least raise some awareness about a potentially dangerous problem.

We have a lot of unlicensed pit bulls in town, said Animal Control Officer Kristin Bousquet. A lot of them are constantly loose.

Stoughton Town Meeting Representatives will consider whether to restrict ownership to one licensed pit bull per home at Town Meeting, which begins Monday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. Approval would exempt or grandfather in anyone who already owns licensed pit bulls. Canton enacted a similar restriction at its Town Meeting last year.”

Please write Stoughton city officials at the city’s web form and politely inform them that breed-specific legislation in any form is ineffective and unenforceable.   An enforced leash law and a non-breed-specific dog law are more than adequate to police irresponsible dog owners of any breed.
