From KX News:
“Leola voters have approved the city council’s decision making it illegal to possess pit bulls, bull mastiffs, Rottweilers, Doberman pinchers and German shepherds.
…Not only is it illegal to possess the breeds. It’s also illegal to have crossbreeds of them.
The new city ordinance also limits to two the number of any breed of dogs anyone can possess.
It has an exception for people who raise and sell dogs. Also, the banned breeds are allowed if they help or are being trained to help people with disabilities.”
Please send your polite opposition letters explaining why breed bans are ineffective and unenforceable:

German shepherds?
and mixes of them???????????? (that would be half the dogs in most shelters)
THAT should be “fun” to enforce.
They will be killing a lot of dogs
🙁
You’re right Emily about how mixes of these dogs could pretty much be *any* dog they wanted to make it. And get this. This town on the 2000 census had only 462 people in it. How many Bull Mastiffs, German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, and “pit bulls” could there be??? But “mixes”? That could be any medium- or large-sized breed. Who would know the difference?
yeah, there’s one town in Wyoming that passed BSL against pit bulls and Rottweilers. Town about the size of Leola. The police chief was quoted as saying there were no pit bulls or Rottweilers there, but he wanted to keep his town safe.
oy…..
I wonder who does animal control in Leola, and what they do with stray dogs, anyway…
