From the Detroit Free Press:
City officials are reviewing a proposal that would require owners of pit bulls to buy public liability insurance and erect a 6-foot-tall fence around their property or have a kennel. When a pit bull is outside and not confined to a fenced-in yard or kennel, owners would be required to muzzle the dog and have it on a leash.
Although the city hasn’t reported any attacks, neighbors have asked for measures to be taken to prevent one. Violators would face up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine under the proposed ordinance.

Please contact the Mt. Clemens Mayor and City Commission here and politely inform them that breed-specific legislation is ineffective and unenforceable.

I’m putting together a packet of court case’s and information that this is unconstitutional and denies pet owners the right of due process. I will be taking this information to the Mayor of Mt. Clemens and to his city officials.
I don’t live in Mt Clemens but close to it. Unconstitutional and shouldn’t be allowed. How can you be required to do these things, it’s not fair to single out American Staffordshire Terrier owners. The breed is American Staffordshire Terrier and not “pit bull”. City commission, legislations, mayors are always trying to take what freedom we do have, away. No reported attacks and they are going to these lenghts does not make sense. I wish morons would educate themselves first on the American Staffordshire Terrier. It’s all about how you raise your dog. They are making these breed out to be the most horrible dog and it’s not. I have seen worst breeds than this. BS
What they should really do is ban bad pit bull owners. Ban the deed, not the breed. Not all pit bulls are bad! If you raise a child in a confinded area, don’t feed it, make it fight, and beat it, it’s going to grow up and be one mean kid! This is how SOME people raise these dogs which is totally outragous and the OWNERS should be prosecuted. This world is a messed up place and I can’t even imagine treating my pit bull like that.
Phuck Macomb county, and Phuck MT. clemens, we all need to unite as APBT owners and march a picket line in front of city hall! Pit bBulls are not bad dogs, Pit Bull owners that raise these dogs are the problem !! If we don’t do something now, we will end up like Denver CO, where they have a Pit Bull ban !!
